The creatures accompanied by a more of their kind made a quick shit out of the bushes and sliced on the front Chimera (the same one which got the bump, but they turned around). Razor-sharp fangs sliced through Adamantium like it was paper and the tank behind it didn't knew what to do: Fire at the front tank with the possibility to kill his own comrades?
When purple creatures finally made a opening in the front tank, red blood squirted out of the holes and a scream followed by an explosion in the tank was seen by most of the convoy.
Hellbasher's radio got hailed: "Sir, we are being attacked, nids everywhere, I repeat nid *ggghghzzzzzzz*"
The transmission stopped and Fjor grabbed one of the bolters and looked out of the turret to the tanks in front of him. While he did that, 3 of the 10 tanks already got ripped apart with the front one exploded (due to a despair action of one of the men inside who dropped his grenade).
He jumped back to the radio and started to ride: "Men, keep moving and shoot on any tanks holding still and on the woods. I repeat, fire at the disabled vehicles and the woods, shoot at everything! Except moving tanks."
Paul wondered: "Why such an order?"
"The only way to keep those reptiles away from us! Man the side-bolters. We're in luck these are only the Hormagaunts."
A liquid glow hit the side of the tanks.
"Okay, also the Termagants."
"In luck? Three tanks failed!" yelled Harris.
"Make that 5, keep shooting!"
Fjor fired the main cannon at a wreckage and sonic screams from dying Tyranids could be heard.
"These are just cannon-fodder, so only shoot at the threats to us, my men will do the same. Trust me, I've fought this filth before. Even worse than those Orks."
While the dead bodies only stapled infront of the tank, it continued with a pace to which a running man could barely catch up with, but it's no match for the agile Hormagaunts. Green slimy blood left the bodies of the cold-blooded horrors and flies already started to surround them, dying from the gasses escaping their body. Fjor looked up and heard short and silent bumps on the roof.
"Paul, take over the driving!"
He refilled his bolter with fresh air- pulling at the grip of the pump. Slowly he opened the hatch above him and saw a Hormagaunt facing him. The alien showed his teeth and his tongue swirled around its jaws, starting to attack the weakling human. Fjor's closed helmet gave him more confidence somehow and he shot a shell at the creature who was leaping to him. The Xenos fell off the rolling tank and acid poor onto the roof of his beloved vehicle. Fjor faced back and saw all his men had died in the escape, except for himself. He shot down 3 more Gaunts closing in to the tank and barely could dodge the liquid shot at him by the symbiotic weapon. His head hit a branch over-heading the road he and his men created. Fjor fell down on the metal of the floor, his helmet protecting his head. From above he saw flying creatures.
"Gargoyles!"
He rolled to his left, because a green bolt entered the tank, melting slowly through the adamantium. Fjor returned a shell into the creatures head which fell down and spinned over the road being trampled by his brethren. Fjor stood up and fired another shell into a jumping Hormagaunt and turned around to fire his bolter at a Gargoyle, he missed.
Paul pulled him back and closed the hatch.
"We're at the forest edge, Fjor, will you take over driving again?"
A farmer working his land heard noise from the forest on the hill, he looked at it and saw at maximum speed a tank riding out of it, floating a few inches over the land and falling on the ground, at the same time hundreds of creatures pursuing the tank left the forest as well. The farmer duck, but he was overrun by the horde. In his fear he looked up and saw two jaws closing in a mass of bright pink and purple.

Jax watched as the sky grew completly black and on the horizon he saw hordes of millions of tyrinads. The turrets opened fire, holding them at bay.
"Get the next set of turrets running, how much of the planet is evacuated so far?"
"90%, sir."
"Damn! Get all turrets online and drop more turrets around the capitol city!"
The creatures started breaking past but were cut down by the next line of turrets.
"The fleet's barely holding the hive fleet at bay, the Zeus's Bolt is retreating, a strike cruiser's falling to the surface and will be crash-landing somwhere due east, two other cruisers have been disabled and one blown in half."
Rain started to fall outside now, all over the frontline as the Knights of Olympia marines held off the xenos threat, but it looked like too much already. Jax looked over at the company champion.
"Get my land raider running, we're going to have to move to another fortification."
"Yes, my lord."
Jax stared at the holographic battle on the table.
"Where are the damned imperial gaurd?"
Just then a squadron of thrunderhawk gunships flew over the holographic battlefield and shot a barrage of missiles at the packed-together enemy. Jax picked up his helmet and put it on, he would at least witness this battle in person before leaving in a land raider to another front. He walked outside and his white ceremite boot sank into a glop of mud. The trenches were filled with water up to the marine's knees. Through the rain and darkness he could see nothing. Then lighting cracked, reavealing the immense horde of creatures being held off by the turrets. The Thunderhawk squadron made another pass, barraging the tyrinads with bullets, lax-bolts and missles. One gunship was actually shot down and crashed into the mass of creatures. He spotted a carnifex bashing through the horde and it reared back and crashed into an auto-turret. The creature was brought down by the overwhelming second line of defense turrets that had just begun to open fire at the enemy. There was another loud thundercrack, and Jax turned to see a Space Marine strike cruiser come crashing down through the clouds, then exploding on a mountain. The planet's militia ran through the rivers that were the trenches, holding autoguns and lasguns above their heads. The Space marines shot the creatures they had in range. Jax struggled through the mud to was was once the road, but was turned into what resembled a large garage. He walked up to the top of the structure and walked up the boarding ramp of a thunderhwak gunship, survaying the horrid battlefield.
++Si! Another line of turrets has been breached!++
"Then get more turrets down there to reinforce it!"
++Yes lord!++

OOC: right i'm pulling out of the rp. No offense it was fun but luy22 I'm sorry but after your last post i have to stop. a few turrets holding back millions of tyranids??? No thanks. a planet 80% evactuated in 5 posts!!!! are we going to have a planet left to defend?
You made out in your fluff. that the system is remote therefore limited resources (i.e. small fleet and small imperial presence.) also that the chapter was small and young.
The fleet holdin the hive at bay!!!
The ultramarines fleet had to fall back!!! And to suddenly say you've got to move bases with u having rp'd the constructon of a new base and then leaving. sheesh.
Oh gorthuk i thought your post was quite amusing ( i could picture the look on my chars face as u told him to drive)

OOC- sorry! I'm just taking some things from dawn of war lol, and using some stratigies from it as well (Like make several lines of turrets to hold off the enemy while ya build up forces) and shooting down another building as you progress across the map, but I'll edit it if I must. But anyways...
IC-
Jax watched as another lighting bolt smacked the ground, illuminating the sheer mass of aliens crashing through the turrets, now headed streight for the trenches. Jax drew his sword and bolt pistol as he leapt down onto the mushy ground. He join his troops in the trenches and opened fired. A gargoyal (SP?) flew over but a militaman shot it down. More of the things swooped in, grabbing up marines and militia and dropping them in the ocean of aliens. A horagaunt leapt into the trenches onto a marine, knocking him down into the water. The marine grabbed it's scythe-like claw and held it away so another marine could blast it off. It fell lifeless into the water and the man got back up to fight again. Then a dreadnaught thundered over and began to open fire. Creatures leapt upon it, scratching it with claws and teeth. The dreadnaught knocked a few off as a carnifex crashed into it, causing a large dent to apear in it's front. The machine fell down and the horde rushed over it. A ripper swarm got into the trenches, killing off most of the militia but were held off. This was what a battle against the Hive Mind was like, millions of hordes versus one planet, the numbers of creatures seemed numberless! Another flash of lightning, Jax could spot a massive creature that walked on several legs. A Hiroephant Bio Titan. It stomped on many of it's own kind as the thunderhawks came back and fired at it. The lines of smoke from the butt-end of the missiles vroomed as they exploded on impact, there was enough light from the explosion to see the damage on the creatures face before it collapsed. Large bloody holes all over the face and blood oozing from it's hardened carapace. The creature got up once more and seemed to limp. A squad of heavy support marines ran through the trenches until they were almost directly under the monster and fired their missiles. The monster let out a loud, inhuman roar as it tumbled down, sending a wave of water and dead tyrinads everywhere. Another alien jumped onto Jax, he shoved his sword into it's neck and withdrew it, then opened fire on another. A hermagaunt dashed over and bit into his ceremite armor on his arm. Blood started to ooz but he took out the creature and slapped on some cement onto the broken armor as the wound began to heal and sow itself up. Another alien bounced over the trench at him. He punched it directly in the face, sending a loud crack noise through it's body and making it hit the wet ground. He picked up his sword again.
++Sir! Our fleet is retreating to the moon on the other side of the planet! The starport's been overrun an-++
The voice was cut off by static as the fortress monsestary exploded a few kilometers nearby. In it's place was another carnifex, swarming around it's feet were more craetures of all shapes and sizes. He looked back and fired into the horde coming at him. In the distance he could make out another bio titan. He turned and ran over to the trenches.
"We have done our best here! We must fall back and regroup at the city sewer entrance at the base of the mountain!" He cut down another alien running at him. The remaining militia, with the help of a Marine squad made it to a land raider and boarded it. Other marines turned to retreat to more massive tanks. Dreadnaughts, Thunderhawks and landspeeders gave the tanks cover as they turned and rammed through the forest edge, blasting down the trees with the heavy bolters of the tanks. Several thunderhawks landed near Jax's position and Marines rushed aboard. Another lightning strike ripped the sky to reveal a final squad of Space Marines running for a gunship. The squad leader turned with his men to the oncoming horde. He rose his chainsword.
"For Olpympia and the Emperor!"
Jax could hear the battlecry above the rain and thundercracks. The Marine squad rushed the enemy up a hill. The swarms ran up to the position the other side to meet them on top. The squad leader crammed the standard banner of the Knights of Olympia in the hill as the horde consumed them. Jax turned and boarded the thunderhawk as it took off.
Jax watched the horde swarm over the armor and make their way into the forest. Hopefully the Land raiders were already far away. Just then plumes of smoke emerged from the trees. They tanks had been destroyed. Jax put his hand to the comm-unit on his ear.
"This is Jax Hungir, we need many reinforcements, half were-"
He relized that there was nothing but static on the other end. It was just the Thunderhawks carrying the remaining marines and militia heading towards the capitol city, Jax decided if there WERE any imperial forces surviving, they would have to protect their capitol city. He turned on a video screen and survayed everything. The entire are that the aliens has spilled from was covered with alien spires, and the land was barren, the once barren Zeus I, the moon, had a forest of spires and strange alien strutures upon it. He switched on the hologram screen again. There was only 16 thunderhawk gunships. So many had been lost this battle, and not even a funeral pyre for the dead. Jax sighed and sat back down.

OOC: I agree, Luy, you are a bit of powerplaying and the RP goes way way too fast in your posts.
I hoped more posts to introduce the characters to get to know them and the invasion would go slowly. First people go missing, corpses are found, especially outside the cities. This is tyranid behaviour, they adapt to the enemy they fight, they don't throw everything immediately on their opponent, they evolve to become the perfect warriors to kill their enemies.
The reason my Hormagaunts could slice through tanks and were very fast was because they evolved into becoming tank-killers. They evolve fast, but they don't attack with millions in one day. If you played Dawn of War, when you load the game you see the population of the Orks grow, this is true with Tyranids. Small -> bigger -> bigger, because they adapt to the most efficient.
What's wrong with looking to Dawn of War: The set-up of the marines, that game adapted to RTS's, not to a boardgame on screen.
Several turret-lines will not make a scratch into the Horde of the Nids. They outnumber it and the turrets wouldn't stop it. It's against Space Marine behaviour to fight like that as well, they'd follow the codex and not let them wait as sitting ducks.
We can do this over: No SM PC's (No SM's at all in the begin) and I'll copy my posts and repost them at appropiate times and change, if needed. The Tyranids being Tyranids. Specifically playing a Warhammer 40,000 RP, not a Dawn of War-RP.

OOC: since no one seems to play tyranids im all of them now, (since teres only one or two who thinks) IC: they had landed all the pods the had tough to land. on the moon the were ready. The Termagant and Hormagaunt Broods had evolved under ground, there were lictors in the threes, as soon as they had vanqused all human life on the landing site the Hive Tyrant himself would land. a few spore mines sneeked up to the biggest things they could find(the tanks) the lictors got ready to jump down into the main batalions wile the Termagant and Hormagaunt Broods were ready too flood the enemey with the destruktion and death. Only the one who run will suvive.
the land mines exploded at the tents turrents and tanks they were planted on a few got destroyed but the most suvived. the men looked back at them choked. "the assault have begun!" a few screemed. the most just got confused and screemed but the space marines remained silent. two lictors jumped down from nerby threes cutting themself threw the imperial guard around. wile the broods ran up attack what was closest. not untill then the space marines fired their heavy bolters threw the mass, killing one after one, but still this was a battle they could not win.
